1. Professional Registration with the Bermuda Health Council
In Bermuda, the title “Dietitian” is a protected and regulated health profession under the Council for Allied Health Professions (part of the Bermuda Health Council). This means that anyone practising dietetics must be formally registered.
Why this matters?
Before being legally employed or practising in Bermuda, a dietitian must be either:
- Fully registered, or
- Eligible to register with the Bermuda Council for Allied Health Professions. Without registration or eligibility, a candidate cannot legally work as a dietitian in Bermuda.
2. Typical Registration Requirements
While details vary by case and are assessed by the Health Council, the core documented requirements usually include:
✔ Recognised Degree
- A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Nutrition and Dietetics or a closely related field is required.
✔ Professional Qualification Documentation
- Notarised copies of degrees/diplomas and transcripts.
✔ Proof of Experience
- Some positions (and therefore the registration process) mandate relevant post-graduate clinical dietetics experience. Many advertised roles in Bermuda require experience plus registration eligibility.
✔ Registration Application
- Submission of the official initial registration application (forms & fees) to the Bermuda Health Council.
The Health Council maintains professional registers and will review all credentials and documentation.
